Have parent requirement "inherit" the aggregated status of their children
If you are using hierarchical requirement, make the status of a parent requirement be the aggregation of the status of it's children.

I receive questions from PMs looking at requirements wanting to know why a parent requirement says "not covered", this makes them nervous (even after explaining why. It would save a lot of time to get correct parent status by not having to manually give the parent all the same test cases as its children.
I would suggest that the inheritance be a check box to be additive to the ability to assign a specific test or tests to the parent as well as inheriting (or not).
